President

Shiyu Wang currently works at the Yale Stress Center, working on research projects about mindfulness, parenting stress, and childhood obesity prevention. Shiyu grew up in Shanghai, China, and moved to the U.S. in 2014. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Education and Second Language Studies, Shiyu went on to complete her master’s study in Sociology and Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. Over years of working with children in diverse educational settings, Shiyu has developed a passion about advancing educational equity through exploring and leveraging family and local resources.
Shiyu’s interest in mental health and psychological education arose from her curiosity about identity construction and negotiation that are embedded in social interactions and cultural contexts, as well as the interconnections between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Having lived in two different cultural environments, Shiyu is passionate about promoting more open dialogues among international students about emotional well-being and mental health awareness in relation to cross-cultural experiences. Currently, Shiyu serves as the Program Director at PEERS.
王诗语目前在耶鲁大学压力研究中心工作,参与和正念、育儿压力以及童年时期肥胖预防的科研项目。此前,她在美国范德堡大学接受了幼儿教育和第二语言研究双专业的学习,之后又在哥伦比亚大学教育学院完成了教育与社会学的硕士项目。诗语曾在多所中美的小学及幼儿园实习和工作。诗语对早期发展、家庭教育以及教育变革很有热情,希望之后能从事教育政策研究和倡导工作。
诗语对心理健康和心理教育的兴趣源于她对基于社会互动和文化背景中的身份建构和自我认同的好奇,以及她对情感、思维和行为之间的联系的思考。生活在两种不同的文化环境中,她希望促进国际学生之间就跨文化体验相关的情绪健康和心理健康意识展开更加开放的对话。诗语担任PEERS的项目主要负责人。
Communication and Development Director

Yutong Li is a PhD student of Psychology at Boston University, currently studying decision making. She aims to study the biological process of decision making, learning and reward processing. Born and raised in China, Yutong came to the United States in 2014 for college education. Prior to her PhD program, Yutong graduated from Bates College in 2018 with a B.S. degree in Neuroscience and worked as a research assistant at Yale University.
From her years at Bates College, Yutong has developed a profound passion in advocating mental wellness. In addition to her science background, she actively involves in cross-cultural conversations and volunteering works with non-profit organizations. As an international student, she is particularly interested in the significance of mental wellness in Asian and Asian American community. She believes that peer-to-peer mental health programs are effective in promoting emotion awareness and a community-wide alertness of mental health issue. Yutong currently works as the deputy program director at PEERS.
李语桐目前是波士顿大学心理学系的博士学生,主要通过神经影像学及瞳孔数据来研究人在决策行为、奖赏与学习中的生理机制。此前,语桐毕业于缅因州的贝茨学院神经科学系,后于耶鲁大学做科研助理。
从本科期间开始,语桐感兴趣于通过非盈利社群组织的方式来推动心理健康意识、建立跨文化交流。作为国际学生,她尤其关注旅美亚洲国际生、亚裔美国人群体的心理健康状况。她相信同伴支持项目将有效地推动人们对于心理健康问题的意识和了解。语桐是PEERS项目的共同创始人,目前亦是主要负责人之一。
Academic and Program Advisor

Ke Xu, MD, PhD is a licensed psychiatrist in Connecticut (United States) and a geneticist studying the roles of genes in psychiatric disorders. Dr. Xu was born, raised, and educated in Sichuan, China. She received her Medical and Doctoral Degrees from West China University of Medical Science, Sichuan. She was an attending psychiatrist at Guangzhou Psychiatric Hospital before coming to America. She repeated her residency at Yale University and has practiced adult psychiatry in Connecticut since 2011.
Benefiting from her education and training, Dr. Xu’s vision is to help the Chinese American community cope with culture-related challenges through community-based psycho-education and engagement. She believes that the collective culture rooted in the Chinese population is beneficial for emotional well-being and helps prevent mental illness in Chinese Americans. Dr. Xu is a co-founder of PEERS and leads the program in policy-making, program designing, and training.
许珂(MD, PhD)是美国康涅狄格州的精神科医生,也是一位研究基因在精神疾病中的作用的遗传学家。许医生在中国四川长大,在四川华西医科大学获取医学和博士学位,之后在广州精神病医院担任主治医师。来美国之后,她在耶鲁大学(Yale University)完成住院医师培训,并自2011年以来一直在康涅狄格州从事成人精神病学的工作。
得益于她的教育和培训,许医生希望通过基于社区的心理教育来帮助中国留学生和华裔美国人社群应对与文化有关的挑战。她认为,根植于华人的集体文化有利于情绪健康,并有助于预防精神疾病。许医生是PEERS的共同创始人,并为PEERS的项目和课程设计提供指导与支持。

Operation Manager

Chloe Hsu is a PhD student in computer science at UC Berkeley. Chloe spent time both in Shanghai and in Taiwan growing up, and moved to the U.S. in 2014. After graduating from the California Institute of Technology in 2018 with a B.S. in mathematics and computer science, she joined Google Health in 2018-19 to build machine learning models and infrastructure for electronic health records. Since starting her PhD at Berkeley in 2019, Chloe’s research focus includes machine learning for protein design and DNA sequencing.
Along with her interests in healthcare, Chloe cares deeply about promoting mental health, especially among international students and young adults. She has co-organized events around mental health and sleep health as part of the Health Education Advisory League (HEAL) at Caltech, and took part in HackMentalHealth. As a trainee from the first iteration of the PEERS program, she believes in PEERS’s value to the broader international student community.
许瀞云(Chloe)是加州大学伯克利分校的计算机科学博士学生。Chloe在上海和台湾长大,并于2014年移居美国。2018年,Chloe从加州理工学院毕业,取得数学和计算机科学的学士学位。她于2018年加入Google Health,为电子病历建立机器学习模型和基础架构。Chloe目前的研究重点包括蛋白质设计和DNA测序的机器学习。

Training Facilitator

Shuo Ren is a novice practitioner in the educational counseling and youth coaching field. With gained knowledge, skills, and experience in International Educational Development program at Teachers College, Columbia University, she is committed to helping teenagers develop stronger self-awareness and empowering them to find their own life paths. Shuo’s current work relates to family and student interviews, self-awareness curriculum development, and college counseling in the U.S. She particularly focuses on advocating for teenagers’ mental health and emotional wellbeing in her work.
Shuo is also an amateur drummer and a podcast fan. Drumming brings Shuo flow experience and she wishes one day she can create her own music with friends. Shuo’s affection to podcast derives from her habit of listening to the radio every night since a kid. She owned a personal podcast channel when she was in college and now she’s producing a podcast on family education and youth development at work.
任硕于2020年5月毕业于哥伦比亚大学教育学院国际教育发展项目,目前正积极投身于青少年发展和教育咨询领域的工作。她致力于帮助青少年发展自我认知、赋能青少年拥有自我引导与自我实现的能力。她目前的工作涉及学生与家庭访谈、自我认知与生涯课程开发、美国大学申请咨询等。在与青少年的接触中,她尤其关注他们的心理健康发展、致力于帮助他们提高情绪认知和管理的能力。
工作之余任硕喜欢打鼓、听播客。她从打击乐中获得珍贵的心流体验,并希望有以天可以与朋友们共同创作音乐作品。任硕对于播客的热爱来源于她从小听广播的习惯。她在大学期间拥有过一个关于个人成长的电台,如今她把播客制作的技能带到了工作中,正在制作一个关于青少年成长和家庭教育的播客频道。
Training Facilitator

Chengyang (Jared) Wang received his Master’s degree in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Health from Duke University. During his time at Duke, he incorporated geospatial and statistical analyses in Environmental Health studies. His research includes chemical risk assessment, public health implications of concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO), and vulnerability assessment of indigenous communities in Peruvian Amazon.
Originally from Zhoushan Island, he is particularly interested in interactions between local communities and the natural environment. He believes that environmental issues are always associated with human stakeholders. Constantly inspired by his peers, Jared firmly believes that peer support plays an indispensable role in his life. At PEERS, he looks forward to sharing experiences and insights with each other. Jared is also glad to chat about environment, photography, and gourmet.
王承仰(Jared)毕业于杜克大学环境学院。在杜克攻读生态毒理学与环境健康硕士期间,Jared利用空间分析和统计学手段参与多个环境健康研究,涉猎化学风险评估,畜牧业污染对公共健康的影响,亚马逊原住民的健康状态等研究课题。Jared生于舟山群岛,长在上海,衷情自然,也喜欢探索人心。独特的故乡认同使他格外关注本土社区(local community)与自然环境的可持续互动。他因此相信环境问题始终与人类的诉求共同存在。Jared在工作生活中深受同伴的激励与启发。对他而言,来自同伴的陪伴是成长中最珍贵的财富。Jared期待在PEERS和更多的朋友们分享彼此的故事,也随时乐意聊一聊环境,拍照和烹饪。

钱珅毕业于雪城大学K-12教育专业,之前在纽约从事教师职业,因为疫情的原因,现在是一名全职妈妈。疫情让我们每个人的生活或多或少发生着各种未知的变化和挑战。也是因为疫情,让我在这里与大家相遇并聆听你我的声音!理解与支持💗
Project Member

Han Wang got her M.A. in Developmental Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in May, 2020. She is a volunteer at adult psychiatry in New York, working with creative art therapists. She also works as a stage manager at New York Mandarin Playback Theatre. Based on these experiences, she found herself interested in CAT and became a practitioner trying to combine CAT with education.
Besides having experiences living in different cultures and interacting with various people, Han has broad interests from writing and reading to hardcore tech. These activities and experiences do not only foster her non-judgmental mindset but also encourage her to explore the unknown world.
王涵2020年5月从哥伦比亚大学获得她的发展心理学硕士学位。她目前在纽约的一所医院精神科做志愿者,和创造艺术治疗师们一起工作。同时,她也是纽约一人一故事剧场的现任舞台监督。通过这些经历,她发现她对创造艺术治疗产生了浓厚的兴趣,并成为了一名尝试在教育领域内运用创造艺术治疗的实践者。除了有着中美两国以及和多元化群体接触交往的生活经历外,王涵有着从阅读写作到硬核机械的广泛兴趣。这些过往的经历不仅培养了她开放接受的=思维模式,也鼓励着她向着她所未知的世界进行更多探索。
Project Member

Azure is a rising senior at Vanderbilt University majoring in Philosophy and Computer Science with a minor in Econ. She is interested in the inner connection between people’s behaviors and their emotions and thinking mechanism. She’s particularly curious about how people think and behave differently with different identities under distinct cultural contexts.
As Azure has always been inspired and motivated by peers, she recognizes the importance of peers support and enjoys the process of nurturing social connection. She joined Peers to learn to better serve as a peer supporter, participate in more meaningful dialogues, and hopes to help promote the awareness of community-wise emotional support.
夏蓝天(Azure)是范德堡大学四年级的本科生,学习哲学和计算机科学,辅修经济。Azure擅长自省,感受力丰富,喜欢思考行为背后的心理,情感和思维方式,尤其关注社会和文化背景对于人心理的影响,好奇不同的文化属性如何影响人的命运轨迹。Azure在成长中获得许多来自同伴的灵感和启发,深感同伴支持的力量,深受人与人之间连结的滋养,所以很认同peer support的理念,希望加入peers以成为更好的同伴支持者,参与更多有趣的讨论,推动人们对于同伴支持和心理健康的意识。

Bryan Gu is a third-year undergraduate at the University of Chicago studying Psychology with a focus in pre-medical studies. Bryan joined PEERS to better understand how he could serve as a supporter, and has continued with the organization in the hopes of further educating others. Bryan’s primary interests lie in the influences of culture in addressing the topic of mental health, and how an understanding of these cultural differences might help Chinese and Chinese-American peers to better support one another.

Eunice Yuen, MD PhD is a child psychiatry fellow at the Yale Child Study Center working with young adults, adolescents, children and their families. She is also a neuroscientist using human stem cells to study neuro-developmental disorder such as autism. Dr. Yuen was born and raised in Hong Kong, China. She immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 16, where she received her B.S., PhD and medical degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She joined Yale Child Study Center and Department of Psychiatry at Yale University for her residency training since 2015.
Eunice is particularly interested in cross-cultural challenges in Asian American and international student populations. She is passionate to promote emotional wellness, alleviation of academic stress and management of the identity conflicts between students and families.
